Sanjay Kumar, M.D.

Medical Director of Echocardiography

Born in India, Dr. Kumar moved to the United States as a small child and was raised in Southern California.  He completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at University of California Los Angeles. He graduated Medical School for the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1991.  He then completed his residency program from the University of California Irvine where is did an additional year as a Chief Resident. He followed this with general Cardiology Fellowship and Kaiser Sunset with an additional year training in Interventional Cardiology.

Dr. Kumar moved to Santa Barbara in 2001 where he joined Sansum Santa Barbara as an Interventional Cardiologist. He subsequently moved on and joined Santa Barbara Cardiovascular in 2009.  He is actively involved in the Cottage system and has been previously Chair in the Department of Cardiology.

Dr. Kumar is Board certified in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. He enjoys treating all aspects of Cardiology including risk modification for heart disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and arrhythmias while still maintaining an active interventional practice.
